Professor Milcho Stoimenov is a member of the FSC with a 5-year term of office.

He was born on April 16, 1941. He graduated from the Moscow Finance Institute in 1967. There he majored in International Economic Relations and specialized in International Finance. Between 1969 and 1972 he was an extra-mural post graduate student at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, where he defended a dissertation entitled: 'Problems of the currency exchange rate of the Bulgarian lev'.
In 1984 he was awarded the title 'Doctor of economics'. From 1969 to 1972 he worked as an economist at the Ministry of Finance. In the period 1972-1974 he was a research associate at the Scientific Institute on Integration Issues, which was formed to the Council of Ministers' Commission for economic, scientific and technological cooperation. In the period 1974-1975 he was the deputy director of the Foreign Trade Research Center. From 1975 he was an associate professor at the Carl Marx Higher Economics Institute (the present UNWE), and from 1985 he is a professor at the same university. From 1984 to 1988 he was an assistant to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. In 1996-1997 he was a member of the Commission on securities and stock exchanges.
He is author of many textbooks, he has written over 100 scientific articles some of which have been published abroad.
He is a member of the Scientists' Union in Bulgaria.
